The Production  

The premiere of the first-ever theatre adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ internationally acclaimed book and Lionsgate’s motion-picture, The Hunger Games: On Stage comes to London in 2025. 

Adapted by multi award-winning playwright Conor McPherson and directed by Matthew Dunster, The Hunger Games: On Stage will be performed in a brand-new state-of-the-art venue, Troubadour Canary Wharf Theatre.    

Job Description

As Sound No.1, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining all sound equipment as per the Sound Designers specifications and overseeing members of the sound department.

Key Responsibilities

  • To work closely with the Sound Designer to create the mix of the show throughout rehearsals, technical rehearsals and previews, and maintain the quality of the sound throughout the run. 
  • To take responsibility for safe running and maintenance of all Sound elements of the production
  • To be responsible for all aspects of the management, supervision and scheduling of members of the Sound team. 
  • Oversee all sound plots involved in running the show and undertake other sound plots where necessary
  • To work collaboratively with other departments to ensure the smooth running of the show. 
  • To recruit, train and supervise others in the department, including teaching the mix
  • To take the lead in management of equipment and consumables required i.e. mic heads within budgetary requirements
  • To ensure all sound equipment is ready for each performance with daily sound check completed to ensure equipment is in working order. 
  • To keep sound reference/cue sheets up to date. 
  • To attend rehearsal, technical, dress and understudy rehearsals as required.
  • To take responsibility for show comms (hardwired and wireless cans etc) and Q lights. 
  • To deal with emergency repairs on sound equipment

Essential Criteria

  • Proven experience (2 years minimum)  working as Head of Sound creating and maintaining the mix of a technically complex, large scale production
  • Proven experience of setting up and managing a department

Key Show dates:

Start date: Mid September 2025

Rehearsals begin in London on 11th August 2025

First performance: 20th October 2025 

Salary: 50k to 52k 

UK Theatre/Bectu agreement
